We have an open floor plan, so my computer is in the den. It seems that if my attention is focused (whether writing, reading a book, or studying up on ways to improve), then that guarantees that either my husband or my son really need to talk to me right then. Paper and pen still work great, however!

I write wherever I am because the Muse doesn't like excuses. I grab whatever is covenient, paper/pen. paper towel, eye brow pencil, lipstick...(messy, but for a few notes, viable)...adding machine tape and go at it. The inside of my purse looks like a fallout shelter with scraps of paper and my chicken scratch etched upon it. I have been writing since long before the CPU came into being, so I haven't gotten to the point where that has become a convenient enough excuse to keep me from writing when my Muse cracks the whip.

Oh so true. I try writing in different rooms in my house to see if my muse may be there instead of in the office which I share with my DH. I must admit that the office is the most comfortable and not full of distractions.

My work area is in the living room. Of course I don't have a ton of people interrupting so I don't have the distractions many others have. It's just me and Mom and we each give the other the space needed while writing. Everyone has excuses for not sitting down and writing. The only excuse I have to write is I love it. To me, that's the most compelling arguement of all.

Sounds like my house. I'm in the living room on my laptop and also in the spare room/office on a desktop. Stacks of paper litter both rooms and even behind the couch. You're absolutely right, writers find the time and place to write. Infact, most of the time, I don''t notice the clutter.

Just a note on this post. It was written before the new site was released, so the links are broken. However, if you go to the presenter list on the new site, you can find them in their alphabet section.

Annie, the feedback from writers and how they've benefited keeps my batteries running. Without that I don't think I'd spend about 8 months preparing for it.

Hearing all their successes and publication is really inspiring.
